Why Seek the Truth?

What's In It for  You?

The  Short  Answer

-  -  -   Once we know the truth about anything, we can't un-know it.  We become responsible for living it!   If we know the truth and either deny it or ignore it, our lives become a sham.  We waste our life force defending a lie.  The lie keeps the body alive, but the spirit dies.

.

+ + +  On the other hand, if we accept the truth, it becomes our guide and leads us to freedom, joy and personal growth.  We find ourselves regularly stepping into  grander visions of who we are.

.

The  Long  Answer

We can answer this question from two sides:

What happens when we Ignore or Deny the Truth?

What Happens when we Seek, Find, and Live the Truth?

.

.

.

What Happens when We Ignore or Deny the Truth?

Here's the Problem:

Once we know the truth about anything, we can't un-know it.   We become responsible for living it!   If we know the truth and either deny it or ignore it, our lives become a sham.

Instinct -- An Automatic Knowing:

Each of us carries the God-given gift of instinctually and automatically knowing what is the right thing for us or do.   For example, we know it's a violation to kill animals for the sport of killing;  we know it's a violation to intentionally harm others for personal gain;  we know it's not right to force poverty-stricken, pregnant women to bring unwanted children into an already overcrowded world;  we know it's a violation to produce toxic, radio-active waste that will still be dangerous and deadly 50,000 years from now.   Nobody has to tell us these things are violations.   We just know they are.   That knowing is built into us.   It's as automatic as breathing.   Even when we deny that knowing, it's still there hiding under our denial.

Free Will:

Simply by being human, we also have the God-granted gift of consciousness choice.   This is a two-sided gift because with the gift of choice comes the responsibility of making  choices.   Our choices produce consequences which we sooner or later experience.

We Are Both the Creator and the Creation:

Most of us realize that our thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, expectations, emotions, words, and actions are the foundation of our lives.   Most of us realize that these are the building blocks out of which we each create our personal experiences.

But Simply Knowing is not Enough:

We must, by conscious intent, chose our actions from among the available options.    Unfortunately, very few of us were taught how to apply this basic principle (The Law of Thought) to our lives.    Many of us were also taught things that the available evidence tells us simply can't be true.

Playing Victim:

We can override the inner instinctual nature that automatically answers our questions.   We can also deny that, within the context of human life on planet Earth, we each create our own personal reality.   We can pretend what's occurring in our live is someone else's fault.

Living a Lie:

If we refuse to look honestly at the truth,  and/or if we deny or distort the truth, the only things left to form the foundation for our lives are  lies, illusions,  fantasies, and fairytales.

Denial:

When we examine any antisocial behavior, we find that it's based on an illusion.   The person living in illusion is in denial of the truth and, in his/her own mind, defends the behavior by making up a story of how his/her actions were good, right, and justified.

Truth Versus Illusion:

Thus, when we deny the truth, we, in essence, declare war on it.   We find ourselves constantly being on guard lest it creep into our lives.   We find ourselves turning off our minds.   We live the line:  "I've already made up my mind.   Don't confuse me with the facts."

When our children come along and ask illusion-cracking questions, we squirm and feel hurt when they don't simply accept our beliefs.  We find ourselves  attempting to avoid things, situations, and people that contradict our illusion.   Life often becomes a win-lose battle with the illusion in control.   Rather than playing win-win and producing things of value, we cease to be a benefit to our fellow earth dwellers (at least in regard to the area of denial) and become a detriment to society.

The Consequences:

The external result is that everybody looses.   The denier become a producer of toxins, and a drag to society and/or a detriment to the environment.

The internal result of denying the truth is that guilt gnaws at our minds and eats away our bodies.   Every time we deny what we know is right, this produces an internal conflict that makes life mentally miserable, emotionally frustrated, and physically toxic to our body.

BUT, on the other hand we could simply embrace the truth and allow it to take us where it will.

We Find Freedom, Joy, and Personal Growth:

The truth becomes a guide that leads us to freedom and joy.   We find ourselves regularly stepping into grander visions of who we are.

But There Is a Cost:

When we see a picture of life that is different from what we have spent years believing this can be, temporarily, rather uncomfortable.  In some cases finding a truth can shake the entire foundation  of the world as we presently know it.   Those who have actually taken the step into the truth tell us that the long-term benefits far exceed any temporary discomforts.

Do You Seek the Truth?

Most of us have heard this famous quote:  "Know the truth and the truth shall set you free."  Do you believe that the truth will set you free?   Don't just give the pat answer, "yes."   Stop and think about this for a moment.   Do you really seek the truth, the whole truth and disregard that which is not the truth?   The answer is not in what you say.   The answer is in what you do.   Do you live by the truth?

Seeking the truth is step one in finding finding freedom, joy, and personal growth.   If you are a seeker of the truth, the  information provided on this web site and on  our Personal Success Coaching  web site can be of great benefit to you.   If you are still not convinced that the truth can be of benefit to you, please click here.
