Evolution Versus Six-Days of Creation

When you  add a third dimension
(the reincarnation theory)  to the two sided argument
between science and the Christian  religion

it places the Christian, anti-evolution war
in a completely new perspective.

A.   Is Your Truth Based on Fact or on Faith?

.

In the area of religion, there are approximately three scientifically provable facts:

1)   Very few religious beliefs are based on
        tangible, provable evidence,

2)   Whatever it is that we call  "God,"
has a profound effect upon us,

3)  The three major assumptions

Atheism, Christian one-life-ism, Reincarnation
.

are in direct conflict with one another.

One could also say with a reasonable degree of certainty that what we don't know about whatever it is we call God far exceeds what we do know.   Beyond that, conjecture, guess work, and speculation dominate any discussion of religion.

No matter what your beliefs are about:  The Origin of the Universe,  or about  The Origin And Nature of Man, or about  When Life Begins,  your beliefs are just that, beliefs.

In order to believe whatever you have chosen to believe,
you had to take what, in religious terms, is called

 The Leap of Faith..

And in case you hadn't noticed, not everyone has jumped in the same direction.   In this section, you will find an overview of the most common beliefs and  theories about  The Origin of the Universe,    The Origin And Nature of Man,    and   When Life Begins.

.

.

.

B.   Christian Theology's Theory

About the Origin and Nature of man

.

This theory is called THE SIX DAYS OF CREATION:

(Also known as  "Creation Science"  or   "Special Creation")

.

The Origin of the Universe:  According to this theory, Genesis, Chapter One of the Christian Bible is a literal description of the origin of the physical universe.  Several thousand years ago, God created the heavens and the Earth in six days. (A day is considered to be a Monday, Tuesday type of day -- a 24-hour day.)

.

The Origin of the Man:  Chapter two, verse seven of Genesis in the Christian Bible is considered to be a literal description of the origin of man.   According to this belief, God created man on the sixth day of creation.  Here's the direct quote from Genesis 2:7:   "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

.

On What Authority is the Christian One-life-ism Theory Based?  The Christian Bible is the only authority.  This theory is based solely on the authenticity, believability, and the literal interpretation of the versions of the Christian Bible in use today.**   The six-days of creation theory is not subjected to the rules of scientific evidence..

**

Reference is made to  "the Bible in use today"  because the early centuries of the Roman Catholic Church, the  Bible was, on several occasions, edited and intentionally changed to suit the purposes of those controlling the church.

.

The six-days-of-creation theory is accepted by most Christians without question.  Many devout believers consider those who openly question this theory to be agents of the devil.  Believers in this theory make absolute claims regarding the spiritual nature of a human being -- claims such as those mentioned in the paragraphs below.

.

When Does Life Begin:  There are two, conflicting, Christian beliefs here.  One group believes Genesis 2:7 of the Christian Bible. which says that life begins at first breath.

The other faction (the fundamentalist Christians who are spearheading the anti-evolution and the anti-abortion movement)  ignores Genesis 2:7 and have declared that life begins at conception.   With neither scientific or scriptural support for this belief they have simply proclaimed that very time a human egg and sperm unite, God steps in and, by an act of instantaneous, supernatural, transcendental magic, transforms that egg into an eternal, everlasting life-spirit called a human being.°   According to their belief, that brand new being did not exist before the egg and sperm united.

In addition, the egg, itself is declared to be a complete, separate, independent human being to be accorded full human rights even though it has been an integral part of the woman’s body since her birth -- even though it is still totally dependent upon her for its survival, and -- regardless of the wishes and desires of the woman in whose body the egg resides.   Also, according to this belief, each human being lives only once as a physical body on Earth and then, at death, by another act of God's magic, is transformed into something non-physical.  The being then goes to heaven or hell forevermore, unless of course, he or she didn't get prayed over and wet by the right holy man.   Nobody knows for sure what happens to those who miss the baptism ceremony.   Perhaps they go to God's Cosmic Trash bin for human beings..

.

.

The   "I Am My Physical Body"   Theory:  In the beliefs of the fundamentalist Christians who are spearheading both the anti-abortion movement and the anti-evolution movement, the unprovable assumption  (the belief) that every human being is his or her earthly physical body is an essential ingredient.   Here's their belief:

Because God magically transforms every human egg into a new, separate, sovereign, individual, human being at conception, every fertilized human egg is a separate sovereign human being.   Therefore, abortion is an act of murder because it interrupts the life of a human being.

.

The "I Am  NOT  my Physical Body" Theory:  Billions of people who follow the reincarnation religions (Buddhist, Hindu, etc.)  believe that they are not their physical bodies.   If humans are something other than their physical bodies, then the egg is merely the seed, the "blueprints," the instructions from which a physical, human body is created out of earth matter.  That potential, when developed and nurtured, grows into a physical body which becomes the host for a being, for a soul, or as the Christian Bible calls it, a host for the "Spirit."   Obviously, if the physical egg, itself, is not the human being, then what happens to that egg is a personal, private matter and is not an issue for public debate.  Thus, at the heart of this debate is the unanswerable, religious question: "Is a human being a physical body or a an eternal being who simply inhabits a human body?"

The Christian Bible makes numerous reference to the distinction between the physical body and the "spirit," but the promoters of the so-called "Creation Science" choose to simply ignore them.   If the Bibles is the authority, these previously ignored passages need to also be considered.  See the section titled: Relevant Biblical Passages -- Body Versus Spirit.°

.

Life After the Death of the Physical Body:  Regarding the beginning of a human life, anti-evolution, anti-abortion leaders claim that a human beings is his or her physical body.  But, regarding the end of a human life they make a conflicting claim.

They proclaim that, at death, by another act of God’s transcendental magic, a dying human being suddenly becomes something other than his or her earthly body and goes someplace above the clouds to live forever without his or her physical body.

There is no scientific evidence whatsoever to support the claim that a human being is created at conception as  his/her physical body.  Likewise, there is no scientific evidence whatsoever to support this transformation at death from “a human being who is his or her physical bodies” into “a being who is something other than his/her physical body.”

.

Additional Assumptions:  The believers in this theory make several additional un-provable assumptions:.  1) They assume that they know the nature of God.    2) They assume that God is an eternal, super-human being living in a place called heaven.   3) They assume that anybody that does not share their belief about God is wrong.   4) They assume that the scientific theory of evolution cannot have a creator (an infinite universal source)  because a creator creating by way of evolution does not fit their belief about what God is or how He functions.   5) They assume that their belief is not a theory -- it's a fact.   6) They assume that they are right; therefore, everyone who a holds different belief is wrong.   Here’s a paraphrase of their words:

"Our religion is the correct pathway to God.    Our religion is the one-and-only pathway to God.    Every other religion is either a false path leading nowhere or it’s a product of the devil."

They completely ignore the religious beliefs of literally billions of their fellow human beings who believe in The Reincarnation Theory of the Origin and Nature of Man..   They assume that the believers in reincarnation are wrong.  They assume that those who believe in reincarnation (Buddhists, Hindus, etc)  do not have the right to practice those aspects of their religion that conflict with the Christian religion.

And they have declared war on scientific evolution..
